TheWeddingRing.ca is an online resource for brides that reviews selected wedding vendors, products and trends. Reviews tell it like it is, explaining who does what, for how much, and why we love them. ‘The Ring’ has thousands of members (brides) and hundreds of reviews stretching from London to Toronto, in addition to chat forums and a huge database of planning tips.
In this blog, we’ll be posting about some of the hottest and not so hot wedding things we run into on the daily basis. You’ll find that much of the blogs in here will be ‘inside information’ meaning that they won’t necessarily be seen in our official site, TheWeddingRing.ca.
About Jenn @ The Ring…
A day in the life of me… Wake up, check emails & flag important ones, get Liam (4) and Keira (1.5) awake and dressed and eating their breakfast (Des, 11, takes care of her own), wait for babysitter to arrive, head to the office, write a review or three, answer emails, check out new vendors, moderate the chat boards, write some bridal news, chat and discuss stuff with Anne (my partner in The Ring), and Ryann (media manager), edit updates and web site changes, do business stuff, go home to where my hubby, Brian, has cooked up something amazing, hang out in the backyard or inside with kids until their bed time, watch my fav shows, more web editing or writing, sleep and repeat.

Anne Warren
5:20 am: “Mommy, can I watch TreeHouse?” asks my 3 year old daughter Grace.
“No, baby girl, the sun is still sleeping. Please (PLEASE!) go back to bed.”
7:00 am: Hubby’s alarm goes off. It can’t be time to wake up already. Just kill me now!
Get everyone ready for their days. Give out kisses and lunches as my husband Greg leaves to take my daughter to daycare on his way to work.
8:30 am: Check email on my Crackberry. Tidy up toys (How can one small girl make such a big mess in such a short time?), do a load of laundry, make beds, (note: consider hiring a housekeeper)
9:00 am: pack my brief cases and head for the door
9:10 am: Tim Hortons (thank you to the patron saint of caffeine)
9:15 am: Drive to Kitchener or Toronto or where ever the next great vendor is waiting to be interviewed and reviewed. Talk on the cell phone on my way to my appointment (I always use a hands-free device. Safety, pumpkin, safety!) Jenn (my partner in the Ring) and I can get a lot (usually) accomplished by phone and I often need directions. Santa, could I have a GPS for Christmas
10:30 am: interviews with vendors, more email, more phone calls, more paperwork…
3:30 pm: attempt to beat the traffic and get back to London in time to pick up Grace from daycare. Drat, stuck in construction AGAIN!!!!!!!!
5:15 pm: Honey, I’m home! Enjoy a fabulous dinner, cooked by my fabulous husband. TV (TreeHouse: a blessing and a curse), phone (did I mention I like the phone? It’s an addiction that started in my teens), Hugs, kisses and cuddles for both Grace and Greg
The perfect end to any day!
8:00 pm: did I say the end? No, no, no! Anne’s work is never done! Once Grace is tucked into bed for the night, I’m free to indulge my other obsession…The Wedding Ring! Write a review or three, email, forget my good work intentions and spend too much time randomly cruising the internet (and satisfying my low-grade addiction to Facebook).
12:00 am: Yawn! Oh, I should have been in bed an hour ago! ‘Nite
5:20 am: “Mommy, can I watch TreeHouse?”

My day starts with hitting ’snooze’ several times. After showering, dressing, feeding our cats, eating and wishing my fiance Mat a good day, I entertain my Facebook addiction, check my emails and generally maintain communication with far-off friends & family (we’re all over the globe nowadays!). Soon after, it’s a half-hour drive to The Ring’s headquarters while secretly rocking out to any of my hundreds of self-mixed CDs. Once at the office, I go on a emailing/ review editing/ site updating blitz. Then I slip into the daily brainstorming sessions (Jenn & Anne’s addiction), some logo and graphic design, magazine layout stuff and planning for the upcoming show. Back to the house, listening to Edge 102.1 in the car this time, to find Mat watching sports (always is!) and I spread what’s left of my energy over chores, wedding planning and designing (for personal or friends’ projects). Most nights you’ll find me watching a particular show on TV – Mondays it’s Chuck, Tuesdays it’s Pushing Daisies & House and Thursdays it’s The Office & CSI. At the end of it all, it’s cuddles with the cats and Mat before hitching a ride on the sleep train.

My hubby cooks pretty much every day. I swear he was a pro chef in a previous life. Nothing makes him happier than creating ‘a new dish’. Or just a dish that my four year old will eat…
