After many bridal shows, interviews with wedding vendors and meeting thousands of brides over the years, we’ve come to the conclusion (not surprisingly) that it is the goal of almost every bride to create a unique wedding that reflects her and her fiancé’s personalities. But how does one do that with popular trends that others use before you have a chance to, and styles that come and go faster than you can say ‘I Do’?

One thing that many brides are doing to make their wedding look unique is finding a dress that truly reflects their style, body and is hopefully not to be replicated. Particularly, we’ve seen brides drifting towards specialized shops with higher-end, exclusive and custom-made couture attire.

In November my wonderful husband and I took a (very) last minute vacation to Mexico with some friends. (Special thanks to Lynn, from Uniglobe Discover travel in Kitchener for helping us put together this amazing vacation in less than 2 hours. You are a superhero!) We spent an incredible week being spoiled by the amazing staff at the Gran Bahia Principe Tulum (http://www.bahia-principe.com/material/folletos/tulum/bahia-principe-tulum_en.pdf) on the Mayan Riviera.
This 5 star resort is made up of 3 hotels; Tulum (where we stayed), Akumal and Coba. When you stay at one, you play at all of three. We enjoyed gourmet a la carte meals at the many wonderful restaurants, relaxing and sunning by the many pools, and, of course, sampling the many different flavours of tequila. We experienced day trips to the Tulum ruins, a scooter tour of Cozumel and snorkeling near Akumal Beach. The options at the Gran Bahia Prinicipe Maya are limitless!
As you know, at the Wedding Ring, we research everything! Even if though there wasn’t a lot of time, we checked out online reviews of the Gran Bahia Principe through various trip websites. My friend Paula, was our travel nazi and spent a ton of time on our favourite travel website, Trip Advisor. It was a huge help and while researching we connected with a group of fellow travelers. On our last day in Mexico the Gran Bahia Principe staff held a beach party for our entire Trip Advisor group; dancing lessons, Champaign toasts, contests (which I won!), prizes and coconut drinks.
While we were there we saw several lucky couples taking advantage of the naturally romantic atmosphere and getting married. Gran Bahia isn’t just perfect for weddings; it’s great for engagements as well. While we were there our friends Paula and Randy got engaged! They are considering getting married at the Gran Bahia Prinicpe Tulum next November. I, for one, can’t wait to go back again!
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!! to Sara Gasparotto, Guest Service Manager Tulum!

See you soon!

My favourite thing today is the fact that if you listen to Kool FM Kitchener, you get Christmas tunes almost all day long!

Today was our first video shoot for RingTV. It was shot at The Ring’s downtown Kitchener office. The couple in question was the super-adorable Sammi & Jason. They were both obviously very much in love.
Sammi & Jason had some cute stories and lots of inspiring little planning tips for future brides to go along with the wedding-story-who’s-name-cannot-be-mentioned (because we don’t have one yet).
So now it’s onto post-production and hopefully live streaming of the segment before Christmas. Lots of plans for future RingTV segments, from workshops and interviews to more wedding stories… We’re usually so caught up in other casting calls, that it’ll fun to finally have the chance to do our own!

We’ve done casting calls for a variety of wedding-related TV Series over the years, but this one is bound to be among the most popular.
What bride doesn’t dream of being saved from her own planning stress with a little magic?!
Slice TV Series, Wedding SOS, is looking for couples who are getting married in October, November or December of 2007, in the London to GTA areas, who are stressed out, possibly battling with their budget & swamped by tasks that still need to be done…
Several lucky couples who will earn themselves the use of a Fairy Godmother who sweeps in and grants them three wedding wishes, making everything right with the world again.
Even better, the fairy godmother in question is none other than celebrity wedding planner, Jane Dayus-Hinch.
My new favourite ceremony idea… Ditch the wedding bubbles and set off a few sparks instead!
This bride and groom (Krissy and Amos) exited their evening ceremony underneath a ‘tunnel of sparklers’ made by guests standing along the church walk.
I found the idea on D&G Photography’s blog. Pro photographer at D&G, Neghmeh, said ”I love this photo because the only thing I used to light it are the sparklers…” What an amazing photo to have in a wedding album – or better yet, on the wall as a cool art piece.
You can find more at http://www.dgphotosblog.blogspot.com/ but be careful. Once you start browsing in there, you’ll never want to come back.

Today’s favourite thing has got to be those little 2.5″x3″ photo brag books. I was in the middle of reviewing Anna Lamond Photography and decided this was an item worth noting. The tiny albums fit into even the smallest purse and they’re perfect for some much-deserved bridal bragging.
Let’s face it girls, if you completed all of the planning, signed on the dotted line, danced your last dance and managed to look like a superstar doing it all, then you’ve definitely earned the right to show all your friends. And family. And the people at the bus stop.

Wanted to write a quick note about the amazing photos at the top of our blog. The two bouquets were created by Carrie Lynn Weber, the amazing designer that she is (http://www.kwweddingring.ca/vendors/florists/carrielynnweber.html). The bride running on the beach is a photo by Photography by Yvonne (http://www.londonweddingring.ca/vendors/photographers/yvonnelong.html) who I’ve had the pleasure of working with for about eight years now, both at weddings and through her review in The Ring.
Jessie Thomas of Bride2Bead has proved once and for all, even your cake can wear a tiara… This custom designed sparkly cake topper definitely ranks among my favourite cake accessory ideas. Her site is www.bride2bead.com if you want to see more.
