This Saturday takes The Ring to Woodstock Ontario for the Better Living Essentials show where we’re sponsoring the Bridal Boulevard portion of the show. The show expects about 100 brides and has some really fun events going on throughout the day. Should be a blast!
From there we head to Kitchener’s Welcome Wagon show, held at City Hall on Sunday. This is always a good show. It’s short, sweet and comes with a bridal fashion runway show.
Simultaneously, we’ll be at the Simcoe Bridal Show in Simcoe on Sunday. This weekend will be fun because it’s the first time we’ll be covering events on video for showing off on RingTV!
September 5th marked the first day of Bridal Show season for us at the Ring. Staff got to hang out with Maximum Music at the Toronto Star National Bridal Show last weekend in Mississauga. We saw thousands of Brides and Grooms and were super excited to hand out our “HOT off the Press” issue of Bridal News! We snapped a few pics for you…

- Bride’s getting all the Goods from Ring Staffer Teresa

This past Saturday was a big day in The Wedding Ring family. Our much-loved media manager, Ryann Pauzé, married her soul mate, Mat Blenkiron in Kitchener Ontario. The wedding was untraditional, creative, and had most of the two hundred guests either laughing or crying with the bride and groom throughout the day (we cried like babies during the vows).
The theme of the wedding was red & black and rock & roll. The wedding party walked down the aisle to Can’t keep my eyes off of you and later shared cocktails with guests to Beatles’ tunes. Ryann and Mat’s friends and family toasted to the couple with a mixture of comical and sweet speeches. Their friends also created a slideshow using a collection of photos that stretched from childhood (Mat playing with the barn cats on the farm, Ryann proudly holding a Star Trek poster) to the present (dating, hanging out, celebrating…). Guests came from all over the world including the Persian Gulf and Western Canada and it was obvious that they were there to support and celebrate Ryann & Mat’s new marriage.
When all was said and done, the one thing that stood out even more than the music or the open bar was how close this large group of people were. It was obvious they all adore Ryann and Mat. The wedding theme that resonated louder than any other that day was of friendship, family, and true love. Congratulations Ryann & Mat Blenkiron!

Stacey Thompson and Kara Judge from KoolFM’s afternoon show will be slipping into their bridal gowns to MC the evening’s events at the Kitchener Brides Ball on February 23rd at Bingemans. A Tuxedo Lounge will be on-site for our favourite men to kick back in between dances, if they choose. The online auction will be posted the first week of February to raise money for the cause. Tickets can be purchased online by credit card or cheque, or in person at selected retail locations.
For a bride who loves bridal shows, January 2008 takes the cake.

Next Wednesday, December 19th, brides & staff at The Ring are uniting & getting a little crafty with awesome floral designer, Carrie Lynn Weber.
We’ll be sipping champagne @ The Walper while exchanging holiday cheer, eating munchies, and making funky, intricate centrepieces using fresh flowers. How fun is that?!

This past weekend was the Bingemans Wedding Dreams show. As always, it was big. There were a number of vendor displays, the fashion show was pretty good, and we got to see a ton of brides from The Ring.
Becky, Ryann and Linda came out to run TheWeddingRing.ca booth (decorated by Custom Elements) Saturday and Sunday allowing Anne and I to scope out some of the newest trends in flowers, photography, videography, fashion and decorating… As usual, Jirina was giving out tasty cake across the walkway from us, testing our will power all weekend. The show also marked K-W’s first chance to check out Bridal News Magazine, which was definitely exciting.
If you didn’t make it to the show, the next one on the calendar is ‘A Bridal Extravaganza’ at the Paris Grand Country Club, November 17th and 19th, 2007, from 11 to 4pm.
This Friday, October 5th from 6pm to 9pm, Ultimate Affairs Wedding and Event Planning and Boulevard Photography and Fine Things are going all out to celebrate the opening of their brand new studio in the Shops at Waterloo Town Square.
This is a fun, short outing that gives you a chance to meet the experts, take a tour, participate in the ribbon cutting and opening ceremony, and of course browse photography and fine things. The doors of the mall close at 8pm, so before to get in before then to make sure you get in.

We’ve done casting calls for a variety of wedding-related TV Series over the years, but this one is bound to be among the most popular.
What bride doesn’t dream of being saved from her own planning stress with a little magic?!
Slice TV Series, Wedding SOS, is looking for couples who are getting married in October, November or December of 2007, in the London to GTA areas, who are stressed out, possibly battling with their budget & swamped by tasks that still need to be done…
Several lucky couples who will earn themselves the use of a Fairy Godmother who sweeps in and grants them three wedding wishes, making everything right with the world again.
Even better, the fairy godmother in question is none other than celebrity wedding planner, Jane Dayus-Hinch.
This weekend we were in London for Western Fair’s bridal show on Saturday and Sunday in addition to Toronto for the Sears Registry event at Yorkdale Mall.
I’ve gotta say that London won hands down - for total number of brides, atmosphere, vendor happiness level, and overall bridal show fun factor.
The Sears event, on the other hand, was nice enough to invite us to attend and their store looked beautiful. The mall was busy, the staff was friendly, and the brides were…. elsewhere?
During the four and half hours of the event, we chatted with the Sears girls… read a lot of wedding magazines… finally figured out how to program a blackberry My5 list (thanks Rogers booth guys! you were awesome!)… pinned other Wedding Ring staff for entertainment… met roughly half a dozen brides?… went shopping…. went home. I don’t get it… Sears is well known & well loved. They have an amazing gift registry program and they stole the show at the National Bridal Show because they gave out these adorable not-so-little towel-wedding-cakes all weekend, sooooo seriously brides, where were you?!

This morning, we bumped into an ominous message on the SimcoeBridalShow.com web site that wasn’t there yesterday.
2007 Simcoe Bridal Show Has Been Canceled.
Since this show has been advertised in Bridal News Magazine, in Bridal News by email and online in all cities of TheWeddingRing.ca from London to Toronto, we thought we’d better get this notice up right away. If I had more details to offer, I would post them.
Sorry girls! Change of plans. Come see us at Western Fair instead!
- Jenn @ The Ring
This weekend, The Ring is going from road trip to road race status. Catch us if you can…
- Western Fair in London, Saturday & Sunday
- Sears Registry Gala at Yorkdale Mall in Toronto, Saturday
- Simcoe Bridal Show, Sunday
Look forward to seeing you there!

At the National Bridal show this past weekend, staff at The Ring met Britain’s celebrity wedding planner (and fairy godmother from Wedding SOS on Slice), Jane Dayus-Hinch. Jane was terrific – completely open, easy to talk to, and full of cool wedding planning insider tips that could only be learned from having planned events for celebs, socialites and royalty.
Becky, a bride who became ‘one of the crew’ this weekend for the show, posed for a photo with Jane…

We also met David Adjey from Restaurant Makeover (food Network). He has worked at and on some of the largest events ever. Stay tuned for some of David’s wedding catering tips on what to look out for when dealing with your wedding menu.

Just a note to brides that Welcome Wagon has moved back into Kitchener City Hall. The show is this Sunday (September 9) afternoon at 1pm. If you’ve got the urge to plan this weekend, Welcome Wagon usually has a great fashion show, vendor exhibits, and of course, The Ring!
www.welcomewagon.ca has more details.
See you there,

Ryann, Anne, Marg, Charlotte and I are just packing up in prep for this weekend’s bridal show - The Toronto Star National Bridal Show. Just when we though we knew the meaning of ‘a big bridal show’ (aka Bingemans), we met this one…
So, aside from debugging chat boards, we’ve been in full scale bridal show mode around here this week. Our printer is dropping off about 50 cases of magazines tonight, our decorator, Custom Elements, is setting up an amazing, contemporary silver & crystal look for us as we speak, INDEX is taking care of the delivery & heavy lifting, hotel rooms are ready and waiting (we fully expect to indulge in liquor and pizza after the show) and we’re ready for tomorrow’s little road trip.
We even have awesome local brides helping us with the booth. You girls rock! thank you, thank you!
So if you’re planning a road trip out to come see the show, make sure to stop by the booth, pick up a magazine, and say ‘hello’. We’d love to see you!
The hours are Friday 5-10, Saturday 10-9, Sunday 10-6 @ International Centre, Mississauga. We’re up on your right near the stage.
See you there.
